WARNING: It is recommended to actually download the game. The web build is severely limited in graphics but WORKS on Firefox, despite the in-game warning. It was specific to my setup, as it seems.

Autocracy Chess With Spin Dictatorships

Autocracy Chess is a video game about pawns living in a society overshadowed by The King - a single pawn, controlling every decision in their government. He doesn't provide justice or freedom, and doesn't even abide by the constitution. His rule is solely based on political trickery and illusion of support.

But freedom lives...

During your brief adventure in the land of pawns, you will meet many, many people with different views on politics. Your mission is to gather support and unite them. Or cherry-pick the good ones.

The ones you trust change the game!

There are seven recruitable pawns, most of which directly contrast each other. If you try to recruit all of them, they will fight, so you need to choose carefully. Or just command Josh to go away while you talk with Vernon - that works too.

Your power is to communicate with others, but it may be your downfall too.

Everyone wants to ASCEND, but is it truly what you need?

You have no choice but to ascend to power - ain't that the point of the game? But isn't it kinda strange? 

Everyone seeks power - from mere policepawns that want to ascend the ranks, to the green pawn Vernon, who believes in spiritual ascent. 

Is it truly the best direction to go in? Only time will tell.

Controls

Bind	Command
LMB (Left mouse button)	Choose a pawn or choose a square to move to
RMB (Right mouse button)	Rotate a pawn (yes, pawns indeed rotate, very chess)
Middle click	Pause the game - pause menu has dossiers and options.

Known bugs

• Camera position is not always set properly. It is mostly non-critical, and the game is too short for you to lose progress over that.
• The ending sucks and is rushed. See post-jam plans.

Post-jam plans

• Actually use the reputation system.
• Make a sensible ending
• Add turn-based puzzles and an entirely new region, THE ELITE QUARTERS.
• More dialogues
• Better ways to manage the pawns - like you can do with Pawny, but for everyone and with more flexibility. Perhaps even a freer camera.
• Park residence quest isn't finished. It needs to be finished.
